NIXON Watch Recreation

With this watch, I wanted to get as close to the original watch as possible. I wanted to get the shapes correct and work on shadows and light. I took as much time as I could to make it as close to the image as possible and I think it paid off. I know I could keep looking at it and making little things better forever, but I think it turned out pretty well overall.

Initial Sketches:

Since I know I can generally get shapes down well, I focused on shadows for sketches. This helped me see shapes of the lighting and shadows and how different parts of the watch overlap. I realized the numbers and smaller pieces would be an especially good challenge to make, but planned to think about that more later when I got there.

Here's what my draft looked like:

After creating the first draft, I received feedback that I needed to include more details. I was missing some of the inner circles. Adding them created some additional, very needed, depth.

Here's how it turned out in the end:

You'll notice there are more inner circles that help the eye see that the face is set into the watch. I added the proper numbers and took the time to adjust the font I found to make it look even more like the original watch. I took as much time as I could to get it looking as much as an image as possible. I made the shapes very accurate to the original and I focused on the shapes and shadows. I paid special attention to blending shadows and lights into each other so they would look natural.

Here's a bonus picture of all the many paths on this watch.
